Sound resistant drywall has increased in popularity as a means of reducing noise transmission.
These type of drywall are made from mineral gypsum placed between layers of paper. The rigid mineral and the sheets of paper give the drywall its dense properties that act as a good conductor of sound. To ensure extra soundproofing abilities, one must consider having extra-thick walls or adding extra insulation in the cavities.
